Release time:2020-06-22   Clicks:   source:原创   author:超级管理员

The Open Day for the prospective students and their parents was held on Saturday, June 20th. Current senior 2 students and the teachers spent many hours decorating the classrooms with colorful class works and prepared a warm welcome for the visitors.  Parents from all over Changzhou started entering the campus at about 8:30 am and took their seats in the conference room in building 8.

The program started at 09:05 am with the speech of Ms. Li, the Director of the AP Center. In her long speech, she introduced the vision and mission of the AP Center, together with a brief history of the international program. She emphasized that our program is strong as it takes its strength from its successful past and experienced teachers.

After Ms. Li, Mr. Arican, the Academic Coordinator of the AP Center, made a short speech on how the AP Center of Changzhou Senior High School is not just a training center and how the teachers focus on deep learning, rather than memorizing for the exams. He mentioned that true teaching occurs only if the students continue learning even after they step out of the classroom and prove themselves as life-long learners. He also added that the teachers of the AP center work hard in order to embrace the ideas of modern teaching and keep updated with new aspects of contemporary education systems.

Mr. Arican’s speech was followed by Dr. Walters’ words. As a teacher of history and an experienced administrator who worked at US universities for many years, Dr. Walters mentioned the skills western universities look for when they choose students from other countries. She also underlined that the true winners of the race are those who show enthusiasm for improving themselves, recognizing that there is always space for improvement.

Because the parents do not understand English, two students, Han Zixuan and Liu Zhenghao respectively were given the responsibility of reading Chinese translations.

After all the speeches were completed, the Q&A session began. Ms. Li and Dr. Wang, the Head of the Counseling Department, answered the questions.

Once all the question marks were cleared, the parents were invited to the classrooms to talk with current students and see our teaching facilities. They walked around the classrooms, had casual chats with the students, and learned about the displays –the projects and assignments of this academic year- decorating the walls.

The Open Day Program ended with the lunch break at about 11:30 am.
